Ryann Wahl

Projections Photography Instructor

Ryann Wahl received her MFA in Poetry from Columbia College Chicago. There, she was an editor for the Columbia Poetry Review, and a co-founder of Columbia’s MFA reading series: The 33 Reading Series. She was the 2011 recipient of The Academy of American Poet’s Lannan Award Prize for Poetry at Columbia College, and also held a graduate instructorship teaching Writing and Rhetoric I & II for two years. As well, she is an assistant editor for the new online poetry journal Phantom Limb. When she is not writing, she continues to study the relationship between image and word. Her passion for the craft of photography, and her specific interests in the symbolic and cyclical interactions between eye and ear, image and text, is something she has been pursuing academically, as well as in her free-time, for many years. Whether in the dark room, on photoshop, or in the field, one photograph, like a poem, enables the opportunity for every nuance, seen and unseen, to be discovered, even felt.
