Instructor, Writer, and Editor
Jenny’s background as a theater artist gives her unique entre into giving creative criticism and direction in writing. She has a heightened sense of how to develop an argument, build interest, and satisfy a reader. She’s particularly attuned to creating fully imagined characters and conflicts in fiction and narrative nonfiction. In addition to working in theater for most of her adulthood, Jenny brings over ten years of experience as a copyeditor to her work. She’s worked in fiction and nonfiction with a number of publishing companies including Disney Worldwide Publishing. She can tell you the difference between an en and em dash, recast a sentence to avoid a dangling modifier, and line edit a writer’s work to make it flow.
She house-managed WNYC’s live venue, The Greene Space, in its first year, where she performed in audio theater, still writes book reviews for independently published writers, and is currently working on a (not at all autobiographical) novel about an East Village mother kicked out of her kid’s playgroup for being too honest.
